What NEET actually tests

NEET-UG is a 200-question, 720-mark paper drawn almost entirely from the NCERT Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Biology carries 360 marks, Physics 180 and Chemistry 180, so Biology accuracy decides your rank band and Physics decides whether you clear the top slabs.

How to sequence a two-year preparation

Class 11 year — finish NCERT chapters alongside school, and keep one weekly test. Never postpone Class 11 Physics; it reappears inside Class 12 chapters.
Class 12 year — Class 12 syllabus first, Class 11 revision in parallel through PYQs, then a full-length test every week from the last four months.
Final 60 days — no new material. Only revision, error notebook, and full-length papers under exam timing.

The three habits that move scores

NCERT line-by-line for Biology. Most Biology questions are statements lifted from NCERT sentences, diagrams and tables.
A written error notebook. Every wrong answer gets one line: what the concept was, and why you missed it.
Mock analysis longer than the mock. A two-hour analysis after a three-hour paper is what converts attempts into marks.

Common mistakes

Reading multiple reference books for Biology instead of mastering NCERT.
Solving Physics theory without numericals.
Taking mocks without analysing them.
Leaving Inorganic Chemistry for the last month.
